April 2006

home sweet home

so lately I have been decorating my non-existent house in my head. Not that I don't love living with my family but when I finish school I want Tony and I to have our own little house that I can decorate. I love all the bright colors and I loooooooooooove kitchy junk. On that note my new fave website is Pylones USA which I found when I was looking for this toaster.

And this is MY fridge

Jadite

from bigchillfridge they have amazing colors!

and these are two of the wallpapers by mibo that I have to have (even at $84 a roll!):

And I have to have every thing at Velocity Art and Design

Holy Moses

Meet Moses!

So Tony's birthday is over a month away but I found a puppy in the paper for hundreds less than the breeders on line. YAY. He had his first appointment at the vet last monday and he is all healthy and good. He loves his boy. Yesterday Tony buried him in the sand and today Tony took some of the fence building stuff and Moses chased him! P.S. we named him Moses before we heard Gwyneths baby name.

Perfect

Did I mention we have had fabulous weather? Tony has been swimming, playing in the sandbox. painting the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk paint, and drawing with sidewalk chalk, there have been multiple wagon rides and walks. And he is helping his grandpa build the fence . This is my baby's season. He is in paradise. Ah summer he is ready for you.

HAPPY EASTER

I hope everybody had a good holiday. This was Tony's second easter and he was much more aware this time. I have been a little nervous because the day after easter last year he came down with rotovirus and was so sick. I knew I was just worrying but it was always on my mind. Here he is checking out his basket his favorite thing was this fiber optic light spinner thing. He was chasing everyone around with it after church sunday.

Book it

Does anyone else have books they can read over and over? I love the feel of the familiar and the comfort of knowing what is going to happen and I also love discovering things I hadn't noticed before or had forgotten. Recently I read Saint Maybe by Anne Tyler again. I love this book and I love Anne Tyler. One her list of books written I had read Saint Maybe, The Accidental Tourist, and Back When We Were Grownups. She has written a ton of books so I decided I needed more. I rented The Amateur Marriage and Dinner At The Homesick Restaurant. I completely gulped them in. It only took me two days each to finish them. I am banning myself from renting Anne Tyler for a while because I get so absorbed and I can't put it down which is so hard when you are chasing a toddler. But I definitely recommend them, I personally like The Amateur Marriage more.

Also In entertainment news have you see who is playing Bettie Page in the movie!

I think it will be a disaster.

anyway there is alot more interesting stuff going on in my life besides pop culture and I will post something more interesting later.

UPDATE: My dream weenie dog Nigel was sold before I could by him : (

Weenie Envy

I have had Weenie on the brain! I am throwing Tony a puppy party for his second birthday and I want to get him a mini dachsund. He really loves dogs and we are all ready for another dachshund to love. I spoke with teh dog lady at the pet store and she said he would be fine with a dog he even got to hold a dachshund they had there! My mom and I really want an english cream and tonight I found this one:

his name is nigel and he is only three hours away! He's actually an american cream but too adorable

On the party planning to do list: invitations. I am all about home made invitations. I really wanted to do some embossing. First of all it is impossible to find a good dachshund rubber stamp so I decided to make my own. I haven't carved one of these things since high school but I surprised my self I used my new embroidery pattern for the design and then when I was done with my number two I realized it was backwards. try try again :

then I tried to draw around it with an embossing pen, I had to draw half an inch, dump powder, heat, and repeat all the way around the dog. I really liked the effect but I don't think I am going to have the patience

I am going to serve cake "bowls" filled with puppy chow. and for the main course: hot dogs!

Wonky

So I checked my blog and the script was all over the place I tried in vain to fix it. My solution was to just break up each craft into it's own little post. So I hope it is more pleasing to look at now! Because my post was so unbelievably long you have to click on the April Link in Archives to see all of it, if you haven't lost interest by now. I promise from now on I will try to post the crafts as they are finished instead of clustering them together.

Blurry Pics of Crystal Clear Crafts

I can hold off no longer so I took pics with my archaic digital camera so here goes.

A lot of crafting accomplished over the past few months..well alot for me.

The completed (except for the slipstiching, have I mentioned not only that I hate it but am also terrible at it?) David Lee Roth handbag/tote. I went with a cute apple calico for accent and a nice red on red polka dot for the lining to soften the whole devil theme. I did the spider with embroidery and vintage buttons. The whole thing is quilted so when I do finish the slip stitching and wash it it will be all puckered like a quilt:

All right not to exciting unless your Tony but here is his blanket/cape

(He gave up on the cape idea so now it is just a blanket) :

A little bag whose handle snaps to the top rail on his crib:

(now whenever he wakes up early he can keep himself occupied while I sleep!)
