Birthday Mail

Dsc01987_2

I sold my first library bag (YAY!!!) to the lovely Carra for her lovely Adele. I sent some goodies with the bag for the birthday girl. I found the amazing vintage snowsuit at an estate sale a while back and was just hoping to find a little girl who could wear it. It still has the tags! I also found the mushroom dress at Vintage Baby I love the colors and the fabric. Of course I had to include a book, one of my all time faves The Little House. If you haven't read it you must, it is beautifully written with amazing illustrations.

Thank You Carra!

How To Drop Bomb

What the...?

I don't know how many of you have read about it but J.K.R. says that Dumbledore is gay.

Here is a excerpt from the aol article:

She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love."

"Dumbledore is gay," the author responded to gasps and applause.

She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. "Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said of Dumbledore's feelings, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down."

Dumbledore's love, she observed, was his "great tragedy."

For the love of technology?

Every wednesday night for the next 12 + weeks I have a date with the wonder that is Project Runway. It seriously makes my heart beat faster just saying the name. Season 3 Yay!!!

News of my other multimedia loves, I am all about these three movies I saw recently:

Shpgirl

Pride_and_prejudice

Junebug

Shopgirl: Litlle disturbing seeing Claire Danes naked and getting it on with Steve Martin but you cant go wrong with Jason Schwartzman.

Pride and Prejudice: I usually hate Keira Knightly, I don't know why but her mouth bugs me, but she was really amazing in this movie. Donald Sutherland was hilarious and so was her creepy cousin. in a creepy way

Junebug: Love everything. great story, funny lines, and interesting characters. This movie gave me my current music obsession:

Yo_la_tengo

currently sewing a gift with this as my soundtrack: mmm lovely. Sidenote they will be playing at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago July 29, 30 I want to go soooo bad, and my one friend who entertains my whims can't come because she is working, so you should come with me whoever is reading this

okay my sidenote is over

next on my cd player:

Pixies

If you let a mouse watch fight club..

she'll want to listen to the pixies...

and if she listens to the pixies...

she'll want to make something...

and if she makes something...

the needle on her sewing machine might break off in her thumb...

and if her thumb is hurting she'll want to relax and watch a movie...

like fight club.

Can you tell what book Tony and I have been reading?

And in book news:

my sister bought me Anne Tyler's newest for mother's day:

Digging_to_america

not my fave by her but still excellent. Now I only have 6 left and I'll have read all her works.

Book it

Does anyone else have books they can read over and over? I love the feel of the familiar and the comfort of knowing what is going to happen and I also love discovering things I hadn't noticed before or had forgotten. Recently I read Saint Maybe by Anne Tyler again. I love this book and I love Anne Tyler. One her list of books written I had read Saint Maybe, The Accidental Tourist, and Back When We Were Grownups. She has written a ton of books so I decided I needed more. I rented The Amateur Marriage and Dinner At The Homesick Restaurant. I completely gulped them in. It only took me two days each to finish them. I am banning myself from renting Anne Tyler for a while because I get so absorbed and I can't put it down which is so hard when you are chasing a toddler. But I definitely recommend them, I personally like The Amateur Marriage more.

Also In entertainment news have you see who is playing Bettie Page in the movie!

I think it will be a disaster.

anyway there is alot more interesting stuff going on in my life besides pop culture and I will post something more interesting later.

UPDATE: My dream weenie dog Nigel was sold before I could by him : (

Books: A Good Thing

I think I have the black lung Pop

Actually just strep, I got it from my momma. Hers has actually become a lung infection. Tony was tested on Friday and his test came back negative, so that is good. But he loves to kiss and share food and it is impossible to deny him.

So no pics of us wearing our pj's all day and watching 50 episodes of blues clues so I will post about my recent reads:

Julie

Julie and Julia By Julie Powell

All I have to say is burn this book, or better yet saute it in butter and serve it over a bed of rice. I don't like to talk politics and therefore I stay away from political books. This book is being sold as a book about cooking to young crafty women such as myself. This is a huge marketing ploy because a huge percentage of this book is this woman's democratic/liberal point of you. It is as if they believe only this type of person would be into art/cooking/craft. I was truly appalled when she spoke of trying to feed only the republicans in her office a dessert possibly laced with antifreeze and broken glass and complained about having to hand out tissues to the grieving orphans and widows at the one year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the world trade center. It was all I could do to not throw it in the garbage but I am one of those people who will trudge thru a book once I've started. Near the end when she talks about shooting the president I had to laugh because if you have passed elementary government you know that if Bush dies then Cheney is president and he might shoot you.

Boys

The Boys of my Youth by Jo Ann Beard

On the other hand I loved this book. A true memoir and a just great girl read, although you don't need to be a girl to appreciate it. I just sailed through it and loved all of it but a chapter titled coyotes because I am not into long desriptions of animals and the desert. The author is from the Quad Cities so I especially liked getting a feel for my town in a different time. And a plus no politics.

Kitchy Kitchy Ya Ya Da Da
